Steps involved while conducting failure investigation:
Details of the conditions that the part was subjected to before/ during failure, fractographic examination of the fractured surface (SEM images are used where required to determine the type of fracture and the location of origin of failure), recording of physical evidence, Macroscopic examination, Chemical analysis , Mechanical testing , Metallography testing & Finally analyzing the data to conclude the root cause of failure.
